My Vision - God’s Reality
Although I had been a believer in salvation through Christ since I was a young teen, for most of my life I had not been a follower of Him. For many decades I had been a broken and lost soul. But God always pursued me and, in 2011, began to make powerful demonstrations of His presence, love and call on my life. I went to bed one evening in May 2011 and prayed that the Lord would give me discernment about what He wanted me to do.
That evening I had an amazing dream, one like I have never had before or since. This dream pulsated with an energy that set it apart from any other. The dream consisted of an aerial view of a plot of brown ground that I perceived to be in Africa (although there were no telltale signs, such as people, animals or foliage). Running diagonally through the brown ground was a lighter brown scar, which initially I thought might be a dried river bed. But a long rectangular building, which I believed to be a dormitory, appeared on the north side of the scar (which I then realized was a road). I then perceived that there would be two smaller square buildings, one also on the north side of the road, which I perceived to be a medical clinic, and another on the south side of the road, which I thought might be a chapel. At that point I woke up, knowing I had seen a vision as an answer to my prayer, but not knowing what it meant!
Several months later, through the connections of a family friend, we agreed to fund an orphan’s home at a school in Uganda. We saw photographs of the construction progress of the small orphan’s home over the ensuing months. In March 2013 we viewed photos of the completed structure. Wanting to know more about the school where the home was located, the family friend directed us to the school’s website. As I clicked on the site plan for the school and viewed the layout of the temporary classrooms and administration building, I was shocked and astonished to see the very same aerial view I had seen in my dream 10 months earlier! Subsequently I was invited by the school’s founders to help them consider plans for their permanent campus. Dormitories, a medical clinic and an assembly hall for worship are all part of the plans for the campus, which is now under construction.
The dream that God gave me in 2011 was the seed that planted in our hearts and minds the desire to serve the Kingdom of God, by being open to all avenues that God presents for us to help spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to improve the health, education and economic circumstances of those less fortunate both abroad and in the United States. Won’t you partner with us in this endeavor?
